The view is quite different now, but this is how Islay’s most northern distillery looked in 2005. The wreck of the Wyre Majestic just visible in the Sound of Islay on the left.

A memory from an Islay walking week a few years back. After a rainy wet walk to Rhuvaal lighthouse and a rainy wet lunch at the boathouse the walkers are making their way back along a soggy track to Bunnahabhain.

A memory from a walk to the far north of Islay with my sister Imke in June 2013. We had walked from Bunnahabbhain along the Sound of Islay to Rhuvaal lighthouse. From the lighthouse we followed the coast west to Bàgh an Dà Dhoruis. After lunch on the beach we continued towards the raised beaches before turning south east and returning to Bunnahabhain over the low hills west of Sgarbh Breac (where I took this picture of my sister enjoying the views over the Sound of Islay and Jura with the Paps of Jura)
