Picture of cows on a beach, dunes in the backgroundSeeing cattle on a beach isn’t unusual on Islay. These we spotted on Traigh Baile Aonghais, somewhere near Gortantaoid (I think that is probably Gortantaoid River running across the beach in the foreground). I’m not 100% sure, but I think the picture is courtesy of my sister Imke.

Picture of an Adder on a trackAnother look at the Adder my sister Imke spotted near Gortantaoid. While venomous it is not particularly dangerous, provided you keep a respectful distance. They normally only attack when they feel threatened. Hence these pictures were taken with telephoto lenses from a safe distance.
