On my journey to Islay in April 2024 the weather was very nice and I had a bit of time left, so I decided to take the detour via the B8024 Kilberry road. It’s a winding single track road so obviously much slower than the main A83 (not to forget much longer). But on a nice day like I had you’re rewarded with some nice views like this, looking past some fresh spring green across the Sound of Jura to Islay.

A short detour from a drive on the Kilberry Road takes you to Ardpatrick on the shore of West Loch Tarbert. I don’t know anything about this stone, if it’s an old standing stone of some sort or a much more recent addition, maybe some memorial stone? I couldn’t find anything online, if you know please let me and others know in the comments.

A closer look at the huge boulder on the shore along the Kilberry Road. The famous Paps of Jura (and Corra Bheinn) in the distance across Loch Caolisport and the Sound of Jura. A great stop on a clear sunny day on the detour along the Kilberry Road during a drive to or from Islay.
