A picture courtesy of my sister Imke, as it’s rather difficult to take a picture of yourself when going for a swim. That’s me going for a short wild swim in shallow waters at the southern end of Kilchoman beach in Machir Bay. As there can be dangerous currents in Machir Bay I made sure I stayed close to the shore and was always able to stand. Still had a lot of fun splashing through the waves in the surf coming in from the Atlantic.

Another view of the Stoat outside Kilchoman Cottages, here it has moved from the “garden” wall to the gap between the coal box and the cottage wall, peeking out curiously

Sometimes you don’t have to venture far to see wildlife on Islay. For this one I only had to step out of the door of the holiday cottage. I had noticed a Stoat running along a wall twice, but hadn’t a camera to hand in time. Then one afternoon I noticed it running past the glass door. Grabbed a camera and opened the door. Spotted it in the “garden” of the neighbouring cottage and managed to take a few pictures
