Hen Harrier mobbed by Lapwings at Gruinart, Isle of Islay

May be not the greatest picture, but I was just happy to catch some of the action. This was at Gruinart during my June 2013 visit, a Hen Harrier was being mobbed by about half a dozen Lapwings. I wasn’t able to see it clearly, but I believe the Hen Harrier went after their nests, which they of course didn’t like at all.

Lapwings can be seen in a number of places on Islay, this one was near Ballinaby. I believe it was trying to distract me from its young in a field on the other side of the road. It was flying quite low, calling excitedly.
