Unfortunately I didn’t have my big telephoto lens to hand when we spotted this male Hen Harrier hunting on the Oa in the south east of Islay. Still, we got some great views of it and even at this distance it was a beautiful sight.
Hen Harrier’s can be rather fast birds, gone past before you know it. Like this one, which I only managed to capture from behind after it had flown past the hide at Gruinart.
Spotted at Gruinart, a Hen Harrier in low flight. Rare in many parts of the UK, a frequent sight on Islay.
