Sunny south coast panorama, Isle of Islay

A beautiful sunny April day at the south coast of Islay. The view is from one of the ancient hill forts along the foot of the hills in the south east of Islay. The southern skerries in the distance on the left. I’m not entirely sure, but I think the loch on the left is Loch Càrn a’ Mhaoil.

Panoramic picture of a coastal landscape seen from an ancient hillfortA panoramic view of the south coast of Islay, the Southern Skerries just visible in the distance. If memory serves me right this is from the hillfort at Dun Beag, Loch Carn a’Mhaoil below us to the left. You can’t see them from here, but the three southern distilleries of Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Laphroaig are in the distance on the right. The pictures for this panorama were taken during an Islay walking week walk in April 2015.

Walkers between the southern hill forts, Isle of Islay

Picture of walkers on their way between two hill fortsThe hill forts along the south east coast of Islay allow for some interesting walking, here we are on our way between two of them. I believe the one ahead is An Dùn (on the right Loch Carn a’Mhaoil), but I’m not entirely sure. Oh, and those heavy dark clouds with the heavy rain never reached us, we were in the sun for most of the walk.
