Loch Indaal, my first Islay picture ever

Image

Picture of a view over a sea loch with a small pierThis is what I believe to be my first Islay picture ever, taken in August 1998, having arrived in pouring rain the previous day. The view is out over Loch Indaal with Port Charlotte pier, taken from the Port Charlotte Hotel. Scanned from a print, as this was still with a film camera, two years before I bought my first digital camera. Little did I know back then what would develop from this over the following years…

The Whitchampion at Bruichladdich pier, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of a small oil tanker moored at a pierMost of the oil used on Islay is delivered by tanker to Bruichladdich, where it is pumped into the large Gleaner tanks before being distributed on the island. Here the Whitchampion is tied up at Bruichladdich pier discharging its load.
