Picture of a coastal village with a ferry terminalA view to Port Ellen from Carraig Fhada lighthouse. The former Islay ferry (now a relief ferry since the MV Finlaggan entered service) MV Isle of Arran is waiting for the next crossing to Kennacraig at the ferry terminal. On the left the silo for the barley brought in for the maltings. Port Ellen Marina just visible behind the ferry pier.

Picture of a view over a bay with small harbour opposite a beachSun breaking through the clouds over Port Ellen, letting the water in Loch Leòdamais light up. Islay’s main harbour quite busy with the barley boat as well as the MV Isle of Arran at the pier. I think the dog on the beach was waiting for someone to throw him a stick.
