A view from the slopes of Beinn Dubh, looking north over the Sound of Islay. Jura on the right. In the distance on the Islay shore you can just make out the small lighthouse at Carraig Mhòr. On the right the sailing yacht under spinnaker I had seen below the Paps earlier.
Seen from the slopes of Beinn Dubh, a sailing yacht making her way north in the Sound of Islay under a red spinnaker (which the crew had hoisted only minutes before I took this picture, good timing by them!). The Paps of Jura tower over the scene, dwarfing the yacht.
Having just passed McArthur’s Head a modern sailing yacht and the older sailing ketch SV Irene are on their way south on a June afternoon.
