A dark November evening arrival in Port Ellen on a rainy day. The rain was lashing down, but I still wanted to try to take some pictures. I noticed the bright lamps on the side of the ferry illuminated the rain brightly, the relatively slow shutter speed made the rain look like long strings hanging in the air.
Seen from the MV Isle of Arran on a crossing from Islay to Kennacraig, the MV Finlaggan going the other way. Islay in the background, Jura on the right, the Sound of Islay between the two.
A view back from an April afternoon crossing to Islay on the MV Finlaggan. Despite the overcast skies the long distance visibility was very good, allowing a nice view of the hills of the Isle of Arran towering over the lower landscape of the Kintyre peninsula.
