Normally it’s moored at the other end of Port Askaig, below the old station, but on this sunny June afternoon the Islay lifeboat was tied up at the main pier.

After some rock falls specialist workers/climbers were called in to secure the rock face at Port Askaig Brae. Here they are busy at work in April 2019, with a crane lifting up supplies while they are stabilising the rocks with a metal mesh/net.
