Guarding the entrance to Islay’s main port Port Ellen is Carraig Fhada lighthouse, here seen from the air. The port with the centre of Port Ellen in the distance on the right. The Port Ellen Maltings and distillery warehouses can be seen just to the left of the lighthouse. In the far distance on the right you can even just make out Laphroaig distillery.
A place familiar to many seen from a different vantage point. The warehouses of the long closed Port Ellen distillery next to the Port Ellen maltings on Islay. The White Hart beach just below us with the A846 leading out north towards Bowmore.
A nice view of Port Ellen from the Ard, the pier with the (now former) Islay ferry MV Isle of Arran in the centre. On the right Port Ellen Marina. Behind the ferry you can just see the Port Ellen Maltings, the remaining warehouses from the long closed distillery are hidden behind the ferry.
