A different view of the seal on Kilchoman beach, looking small, vulnerable and almost lost on the wide beach at low tide. It did make it back into the water safely.
It was first spotted at the foot of the Kilchoman dunes by some people walking their dog (luckily their dog was on a leash). Having been disturbed this seal then slowly made its way across the beach back to the safety of the water. Seals aren’t the fastest on land, so it took it quite some time.
A calm but misty June evening in Portnahaven, fishing boats moored in the bay. A nosy Seal swimming into view from the right, it seemed to be hoping to catch a treat from two fishermen working on the left (not in the picture).
