A view from the RIB on the way from Craighouse on Jura to the Corryvreckan whirlpool: A large Seal is resting on a rocky outcrop in the Bay of Small Isles, for a brief moment the Skervuile lighthouse in the Sound of Jura comes into view in a gap in the rocks.
Ardnave is one of the best places on Islay to spot/watch seals (other good places include Portnahaven and the south coast past Ardbeg). This one was watching me watching it near Ardnave Point on a nice June afternoon.
A different view of the seal on Kilchoman beach, looking small, vulnerable and almost lost on the wide beach at low tide. It did make it back into the water safely.
