Sheep on the cliffs of the Oa, Isle of Islay

Picture of steep cliffs above the sea, a few sheep just visible on the cliff faceLook closely, they are there. A few sheep about half way down on the steep cliffs of the Oa. The grass must be very good down there.

Loch Leodamais in Port Ellen, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of a view over a bay with small harbour opposite a beachSun breaking through the clouds over Port Ellen, letting the water in Loch Leòdamais light up. Islay’s main harbour quite busy with the barley boat as well as the MV Isle of Arran at the pier. I think the dog on the beach was waiting for someone to throw him a stick.

Cliffs below Beinn Mhor on the Oa, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of some high steep cliffs on a bright sunny daySome of the most impressive landscape on Islay is on the Oa. These are some of the impressive cliffs below Beinn Mhòr (202m). In the distance on the left you can also just make out Ireland on the other side of the North Channel. I took this picture during the Islay walking week in April 2006.
