Kilchoman Church from the air, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of an aerial view of the ruin of a church, a few cottages in the backgroundThe Sun had just risen above the Kilchoman Crags on a beautiful October morning on Islay when I managed to capture this view of the ruin of Kilchoman Church from the air. All the roof trusses have fallen in, you can see some of them lying inside the church. In the background on the right the Kilchoman House Cottages. In the far distance towards the left you can just make out the Paps of Jura, a bit closer on the far left Loch Gorm.

Picture of a small loch in a heather landscapeOne of the many smaller lochs dotted all around Islay, this is Loch Tallant south west of Bowmore. You can’t see in the picture, but the Distillery Lade taking water to Bowmore Distillery is passing just behind it.
