Something a bit unusual/different for this blog, some radio controlled model boats. These are Laser dinghies, bringing back some good memories for me as I used to sail them in my teenage years. I watched them on a return journey from Gigha in June 2023 on Loch a’ Bharain next to the Crinan Canal in Argyll. They are sailed by members of the Mid Argyll Radio Sailing group, usually every Saturday afternoon.

Well worth a stop on your journey to or from Islay. I hope you like this picture, I’m planning to share a few more from the afternoon over the coming weeks.

The counterpart to the view west from Creag Bhàn panorama, the view east to Kintyre. The entrance to West Loch Tarbert (home to Kennacraig with the Islay ferry terminal) on the left. The Mull of Kintyre on the right. Bottom right shows a view indicator (although you won’t be able to read it in this picture), the trig point also on the right.

A beautiful bright June early evening at the old stone pier at Port na Gallochoille on the east coast of Gigha. The bright sun is mirrored on the water next to the pier, making it extra bright. Some houses at Ardminish in the distance on the right.
