A different view of the famous Loch Indaal lighthouse near Port Charlotte, seen here from Conisby above Bruichladdich on the Rhinns of Islay. And if you look closely you can just make out Ireland in the far distance across the North Channel.

An October afternoon classic Islay view, the Paps of Jura in the distance behind the lower hills of Islay along Loch Indaal. A variety of birds visible on and above the loch, part of the feeding frenzy I had watched from Bruichladdich.

It isn’t always sunny on Islay, sometimes it rains, sometimes it’s heavy low clouds hanging over the island for hours on end. Here seen from Ballitarsin on an October morning. You can still spot the Bruichladdich warehouses on the other side of the loch. Oh, and the next morning it was sunny again.
