A view from an Islay ferry to the mainland on a stormy November weekend during a short calmer weather window. During that window it wasn’t as wild as I had seen it at other times, but there were still quite a few people out watching the ferry leave in the choppy seas.

A view from the Islay ferry to the mainland on a stormy November morning (notice the waves breaking at the rocks on the right). Slightly difficult to make out because its colours blend into the landscape, but if you look closely you can make out Dunyvaig castle towards the left. Behind it the famous Lagavulin distillery below the hills in the south east of Islay.

A view from a ferry at Port Ellen pier, looking over the water to some key Islay whisky sites. In the front some of the old warehouses from the original Port Ellen distillery, at some point shut down. Behind it to the right the industrial Port Ellen maltings and to the left the rebuilt and reopened distillery with lots of glass and other modern features.
