A view of Barnhill in the far north east of Jura, where George Orwell wrote his famous book ‘1984’. The Sound of Jura with the mainland on the other side in the background. Taken on a beautiful April afternoon on the return from a walk to the Gulf of Corryvreckan to the see the famous whirlpool where Orwell and his son ran into trouble.
An inviting bench (I’ve sat on it as well) to enjoy the view over Loch Fyne near Inveraray. The bench is next to the watchtower/folly above Inveraray Castle, near the summit of Dun na Cuaiche (248m). A great stop on the journey to Islay, from memory the walk up the hill doesn’t take very long and the views on a sunny day are very rewarding.
