An October afternoon classic Islay view, the Paps of Jura in the distance behind the lower hills of Islay along Loch Indaal. A variety of birds visible on and above the loch, part of the feeding frenzy I had watched from Bruichladdich.

A view with a strong telephoto lens from near the top of Loch Indaal, near Bridgend. The view includes Bowmore harbour, Bowmore distillery and a bit of School Street (as well as parts of Islay High School).

It wasn’t doing an awful lot apart from occasionally turning its head. And it was quite far away so even with my biggest lens and cropping the picture this is as good as it got. But it was still nice to watch this Golden Eagle on a rocky outcrop near the top of Loch Indaal for I think about 10-15 minutes (I got some better views with my binoculars, just not closer pictures). Then it flew off towards Bridgend Woods, where I lost sight of it.
