Evening at Claggain Bay panorama, Isle of Islay

Image

Panoramic picture of a view over a bay with a pebble beach in the gloamingA beautiful June evening at Claggain Bay in the south east of Islay, the last light of the gloaming providing a calm mild light. Beinn Bheigier (491m) visible on the left, mainland Argyll in the distance on the right.

Inveraray pier panorama, journey to Islay

Image

Panoramic view of a sea loch at low tide, two ships sitting on the sea floorInveraray is a nice stop on the drive to Kennacraig to catch the ferry to Islay. On the left the bridge over the River Aray, behind it Dun na Cuaiche with the tower from where you have a great view over the area. Loch Fyne (at low tide) in front of us. On the right the iron sailing ship Arctic Penguin and a Clyde puffer.

A83 through Glen Croe and Glen Kinglas, journey to Islay

Image

Panoramic picture of a road through two glens (valleys) over a mountain passAdmittedly not a view you get from the road, I took this panorama during a walk up Beinn an Lochain on a chilly December day. But the road you can spot will be familiar to many Islay travellers, it’s the A83 climbing up Glen Croe on the right, passing Rest and Be Thankful in the centre before descending into Glen Kinglas on the left, driving past Loch Restil. Beinn Luibhean (857m) in front of us, to the right is The Cobbler (Ben Arthur, 884m). Just peaking over the ridge between them I believe is Beinn Narnain (926m).
